Halloween Horses

For this Halloween Valerie and I decided to enter a Halloween picture contest for one of the morning shows. They were giving away a 7 night cruise to the Carribean. But we didn't want to dress ourselves up. We dressed our horses up in costumes. Ziggy was a hippy, we called him Ziggy Marley, Taito was a Ballerina, and Spark was a bumble bee, she was not really very cooperative so her costume started to fall apart. But we thought they looked pretty cute. Unfortunately we didn't win but we sure had fun doing it, I don't think the horses liked it but we sure did!!

What I've been up to...

So it's been a while since I have done a blog. My camera broke and it has been a crazy summer. I moved back to my parents house in Utah with my boyfriend Gavin. All summer long we looked for jobs and I finally found one at Carriage for Hire. So I drive the carriages in downtown. It's a very fun job, I love it. But Gavin was having a hard time finding enough work so he moved back to Colorado. I have been helping Valerie, my sister, with her new horse Ziggy. I moved down here to help her learn more about horses and how to work with them. We have been having lots of fun riding horses, especially now that they are at her house! And Maddie sure does like having the horses in her backyard too. Spark after a trail ride, she was dirty:)
Jerry, one of the carriage horses!!

I went hunting in September with my dad and it was the first time I was the one hunting with a weapon and not just with a camera. Three days into the hunt I had a good shot on a nice spike bull elk. When we were packing him out and got back to our 4-wheelers there was 2 puppies waiting for us to find them. Unfortunately one of the puppies had a broken jaw and was so skinny that he could barely stand. We ended up having to put him down, but we were able to save his sister. She is a little border collie pup and she is adorable. We named her Daisy. When we found her she was very skinny, and just about frozen. It had snowed 4 inches the night before and I don't know how they survived the night. After two weeks of living with us she had gained 12 pounds and was a normal. happy, playful puppy. We love her very much!!

Going Private

Like most other people with blogs I have decided to go private. We had an attorney speak at my school today and he said how dangerous it is to have anything on the internet that everyone can see, such as myspace and facebook, so I decided that my blog should be only for my friends and family and not the whole world. So if you want to continue reading and seeing my blog then send me your email so I can put you on the "safe list." Thanks everybody!

Videos of my horses and me!

What I've been up too...(I hope this works)

Me and Taito at the Jackpot ropin our calf at 6.28 seconds. Not fast, but we got it!!

Spark loping the barrel pattern for the first time! She does pretty good if you ask me. I'm really excited for her to get going. I think she is going to be good!!

(Sorry they are blurry, they were taken from my phone so that's why they are blurry and hard to see) :)

The newest addition to the fam...

The newest addition to the family is Dually. My boyfriend Gavin and I decided to get another dog because his dog Benson was really lonely and would keep us up all night whining because he wanted to play with the dogs running around outside ( we have some dogs in the neighborhood that get out at night and roam the neighborhood) So we decided to get him a friend. Dually is a mini australian shepherd but he will get to be a little bigger than a mini because his mom is a smaller aussie, and his dad is a mini. He is 5 months old. He is adorable and we nicknamed him Jack Junior because he has about the same personality as my other dog Jackson and he does a lot of the same facial expressions. He has been a great addition to the family.

BRRR...It's cold out there!

It started off with a cold and snowy day and I left poor spark outside. For a little while she looked like a white horse because of all of the snow and ice that was stuck to her, so she got to go inside the barn for the night and stay out of the snow. She thought that my phone was something to eat and I got this closeup of her with snow on her face. But then the storm cleared up the next day and left us with just the cold out. The next night the temperature dropped to lows of about 30 below! When I got to there in the morning to feed the horses it was 18 below and they were quite frosty. Lady is supposed to be a bay horse but in the picture she looks white. Taito didn't look quite as bad and she just had frosty eyelashes. I feel so bad for them being out in that cold of weather, but thankfully the next day was up to 30 above again and it has steadily gotten warmer since then. :)

Goofy Dog

My boyfriend Gavin has a 7 month old Catahoula Lab mix puppy, (a 60 lb puppy I might add) and he is a goofball. Most of the time he doesn't realize just how big he really is and he usually plows you over going down the hall. Also, he eats just about anything, for instance, he chewed a big hole in my brand new comforter and ripped the cotton out of it. Also in the past week he has managed to chew some of the fur out of my sheepskin boots and chew off the ends of the two extension cords that I use to plug my truck in at night. For as much trouble as this dog gets in, he sure is cute and you can't help but love him. Lately he has been falling asleep in the strangest positions (and yes that is my couch, it's really ugly but it was cheap and its comfy:)). He is just the biggest goofball!!
